1.3

This is a photo I took last year. I like this photo because despite being a mostly black frame, it doesn't feel empty. It's a dark image but I don't have to struggle to see the subject. I'm really into high-contrast images in general, so I like that there's a bright orange spot among the rest of the muted image.

Assignment 1.3

Assignment 1.3 Asami M.

My friend and horseshoe bend on the background in Arizona was one of my favorite shots during the Phoenix trip on March 2019.  What I like about this shot is that whenever I look at it, it makes me feel like that we live in such a beautiful, powerful, and dynamic place where we could enjoy with friends.

Assignment 1.3

This is a picture of a 5-way intersection in North East Minneapolis. I used to go through this intersection every day on my way to work in downtown Minneapolis, and it was always the most stressful stretch of my commute. When I saw this picture, it reminded me how much I can take for granted parts of my everyday life, and it was so great to be reminded of the beauty of the city.

Assignment 1.3 - Helin G.

Steve McCurrys portrait photo of "Afghan Girl" has and always will be my favorite photograph of all time. The original story is that he caught the photo of this girl staring at him at a busy marketplace in Afghan. In a crowd full of different faces and different people, these two made a connection and he took a photo. There is so much emotion and story in this portrait and the striking stare she gives feels like it bores into your soul.

Assignment 1.3

This picture was taken when I saw the Eiffel Tower in real life. This was a very exciting moment for me as I have been obsessed with France since I was in second grade. To see it in real life was surreal. When I look back at this picture it reminds me of my dream that came true and how happy I was that I was actually there. I like how to bright tower stands out from the night sky and really shines.

Assignment 1.3

I like this photograph because it marks the day of my high school graduation. There's nothing special about this photo other than that. The lighting is good considering we were outside. The wind was also blowing, so it's pretty fortunate that we all look alright. I don't like this photo for any stylistic reason; I like this photo because it holds memories for me and my friends. You can see how happy we are; and how proud we are of each other. Of course it's easy to like photographs for their pretty value, but I really like this photograph, and others like it, more because of their emotional value.

1.3 Assignment

This is my favorite picture from my wedding day last year. I love this photo because the photographer really captured the energy and the excitement of the reception. The way they framed the picture in order to still get the lighting on the ceiling showed the depth of the space. I love the color and how they used a higher contrast as well to let the vibrant colors show through. This photo was taken by Glasser Images out of Bismarck ND.
