This is a still from
Inglorious Basterds and it is a simple shot but really stages the scene that follows. Th wide angled composition is very simple but leaves the eye wandering around trying to find the small details. An image that can keep the eye roaming is one that will be looked at the longest and even the smallest details will appear. As a cinematographer keeping attention on various parts of the screen is important at times and Robert Richardson the DP mastered that in this shot alone.
